About Yearly House

Yearly House is a small, free tool for exploring annual profections, a technique from Hellenistic astrology used to time the themes of a given year of your life. Enter your birthday and rising sign, and the calculator tells you which house of your chart is activated this year, which planet serves as your time lord, and offers a reflection prompt to sit with.

Think of it as a starting point, a way to notice what's alive in your life right now, framed through a technique that astrologers have used for centuries to understand the rhythm of a life unfolding year by year.

Why this exists

This site started as a kind of love letter.

My aunt believed in the unseen, in planets and signs as a language for things that are real but hard to point to. Some people in her life found that easy to dismiss. Looking back, I think part of what made it easy to dismiss was the way this material is usually written. Dense, full of jargon, and often sounding like it is trying to predict exactly what will happen to you, which is the kind of claim that makes anyone reasonably skeptical.

What she actually cared about was helping people find some peace and notice where their energy was going. That idea has stayed with me. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only changed from one form to another. Science still does not fully understand everything about how it moves and interacts, and there is something honest in sitting with that gap rather than pretending it is filled.

People have been looking up at the same sky for a very long time. The Sumerians and plenty of civilizations after them used the planets and stars to tell stories about the patterns of a life. This site is a small continuation of that, written the way I wish this material had been written for her, in plain language anyone can follow.

If there is one idea underneath all of it, it is value your energy. Notice where yours is going, and protect what you can of it. My aunt believed that if more people did that, we would all be a little kinder to each other. This site is for her, and for anyone else who has ever felt most at home looking up.
